ACTION ADVENTURE GENRE

Remember the questions you'll get:

• Explain two ways in which the events in the trailer fit the action adventure genre (10 marks)
• Explain how each of the following is used to create effects: the soundtrack, camerawork, editing and mise-en-scene (20 marks)
• Discuss the ways in which people are represented. Make reference to stereotypes (20 marks)

Activity 1 Action Adventure films often ‘cross over’ other film genres, making Action Adventure a hybrid genre. You need to know this for Q.1 in order to draw attention to AA conventions. Fill in your quiz sheet matching genre to 14 titles.

Activity 3 Watch screening of Gladiator and answer questions on ‘What do the camerawork and mise-en-scène tell us about the construction of ‘heroes’ in Gladiator ?
